In most cases, we recommend using IMAP.
- Using IMAP, your mail client will synchronize with our email server. That means if you delete an email in your mail client, it will be deleted on our side as well. It also means that if you use your email across multiple devices, you will always see the same emails regardless of which device you are using to access your emails.
- Using POP, your device will download your emails from our servers and store them locally. Emails deleted using POP will not automatically delete from our side, so any unwanted emails would need to be deleted separately on each device that you use to access your email.
There are reasons why some users may prefer to use POP over IMAP. For example, if someone didn’t wish to have their emails stored on our side, they could use POP and configure their mail client to delete messages from the server after deleting them. This same configuration would also be useful for someone who receives a high amount of emails with large attachments, to keep the mailbox from filling up on our side.
While we recommend using IMAP in most cases, the choice is yours!
